{"id":338,"date":"2006-12-19T13:55:56","date_gmt":"2006-12-19T00:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/?p=338"},"modified":"2010-12-31T11:31:29","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T22:31:29","slug":"town-twinning-on-the-internet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/?p=338","title":{"rendered":"Town twinning on the internet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/shovels.jpg\" \/><br \/><small><small>photo: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spiritwalk\/\">LinBow<\/a><br \/><\/small><\/small><\/div>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t seen it already, <a href=\"http:\/\/digholes.com\/\">digholes.com<\/a> is a great &#8216;one use only&#8217; web site that uses the Google Earth API to answer an age old question: <font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\">If you were to dig&nbsp;a hole from where you are standing&nbsp;all the way through the center of the Earth, where would you end up?<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/i><br \/><font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\"><\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\">Like folks do, I located my small rural township in New Zealand, <\/span><\/span><\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kumeudistrict.co.nz\/\">Huapai<\/a> <font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\">and clicked through to find out where I&#8217;d end up.&nbsp; The answer is that, after an awful lot of digging I&#8217;d pop out in  a <\/span><\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span class=\"style2\"><span class=\"style3\">small rural township in Spain called <\/span><\/span><\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.benamahoma.org\/\">Benamahoma<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This set me thinking about how <a href=\"http:\/\/digholes.com\/\">digholes.com<\/a> could be used for virtual <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Town_twinning\">town-twinning<\/a> or sister city linking as I believe it&#8217;s known in North America.
