{"id":216892952,"date":"2010-09-29T18:51:53","date_gmt":"2010-09-29T05:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/?p=216892952"},"modified":"2010-12-31T11:38:39","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T22:38:39","slug":"feathered-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/?p=216892952","title":{"rendered":"Feathered friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMG_45091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-216892954\" title=\"Rainbow Lorikeet\" src=\"http:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMG_45091.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMG_45091.jpg 292w, https:\/\/bignoseduglyguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMG_45091-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have had a day of positive avian influence.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, I woke to the alarm and, having switched it off, lay back to listen to the tuis out-sqwauking the other early birds in the trees along our little road. \u00a0They seemed to be a happy bunch and very much enjoying life and this made me smile.<\/p>\n<p>Later, I was in a lunchtime Quaker meeting for worship with my eyes closed, enjoying the silence and the sun streaming through the window. \u00a0I gradually became aware of the birdcall outside the window, competing with but somehow less distracting than the traffic noise and sirens. \u00a0Again, I smiled at their busy noisiness and returned to my prayer.<\/p>\n<p>Still later, in the middle of a meeting with my boss this afternoon, we were distracted by a colourful pair of Rainbow Lorikeets (thanks for the identification, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100000203336110\" target=\"_self\">Ray<\/a>) in the tree outside my office window. \u00a0We laughed and jointly decided to suspend the meeting for a few minutes so we could enjoy their antics and I could take a few pictures before reconvening.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few more lovely reasons why it&#8217;s nice to live and work in NZ!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have had a day of positive avian influence.
