That said, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not pretend that this is like any other New Year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day. In the last seven days, those usually quiet, restful days between Christmas and the New Year, 150,000 people fellow human beings have died with millions more injured, homeless and dispossessed.<\/p>\n<p>As we celebrate the coming of a new year, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s take a moment to reflect upon those less fortunate than ourselves, particularly those in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and other islands so awfully affected by the Asian tsunami earthquake. Please consider making a donation to assist those affected. Whilst it was <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk\/4136545.stm\">announced yesterday<\/a> that, in the last three days, the British public have donated over \u00c2\u00a350,000,000 to aid those affected by the Asian tsunami earthquake, this is probably not even 1% of what will be required in the long run. Elsewhere in Europe, governments and individuals are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aftenposten.no\/english\/local\/article939226.ece\">giving in a similar fashion<\/a>.  For a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclocal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 take on North American donating, you might try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.matthewgood.org\/web\/mblog\/2004\/12\/right-thing-or-political-pressure.html\">Matthew Good\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s piece<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though there are myriad ways to donate at banks and stores, below are ways to donate <em><strong>now<\/strong><\/em> and two way to help emerging economies and poorer nations long term:<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Dec\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bignoseduglyguy.com\/dec.jpg\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" height=\"424\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"144\" \/>MAKE AN IMMEDIATE DONATION <\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>via<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.b19s.org\/\">Bloggers without Borders<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.b19s.org\/mission\">project\/mission<\/a> conceived by Metblogs\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanbonner.com\/blog\/archives\/001271.php#001271\">Sean Bonner<\/a> and launched ahead of schedule in response to the Asian tsunami earthquake.  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>Bloggers without Borders is dedicated to raising awareness for charities and charitable events around the world. Tony Blair&#8217;s is on record as saying &#8220;I really want to focus on the challenges of Africa and climate change during our Presidency&#8221;. Billions of people living in the world&#8217;s poorest countries are effectively imprisoned by debts that they nor their governments can ever repay. Year in, year out, those governments struggle to pay back millions of pounds and dollars with almost no chance of ever clearing their debts.
